Peggy Jo Eads

Feb 16, 1939 — Mar 8, 2021

Peggy Jo Eads left her earthly cares behind and joyfully leapt into the waiting arms of Jesus and her other loved ones on March 8, 2021. She was 82 years young. Peggy, affectionately known as Gammy, was born February 16, 1939 to Lloyd Elmer and Sally Pearl (Cline) Johnson in Amarillo, Texas. At age 3 she and her little sister went to live with their grandmother. Recently divorced, her mother had to seek employment. It was war time, and her mother got a job making bombs. When she was eight years old her mother remarried, and Peggy remembered how wonderful it felt to be a family again. She was quite the tomboy growing up and felt a strong desire to play softball, which she excelled in. School was enjoyable and she was a star student, but her first love was even stronger. When she was just 16, she married Ira Eads in 1955. A little over a year later, in November of 1956, they welcomed their first child, Terisa Renee. In June of 1958, Debra Colleen joined the family, and Tamara Lynn completed their family in June of 1960. Peggy and Ira tried hard to be a family, but youth and immaturity brought on the inevitable, the couple divorced in 1962. Peggy returned home to Clovis, New Mexico with her three girls to live with her parents while she went to work. She later met and married Douglas Sharp, the man who helped her raise her girls. In 1989, Peggy found herself alone again with the death of Douglas. She went to work in management at Cannon Air Force Base. She really enjoyed that job and was able to travel quite a bit. There came a time when there was just an overwhelming desire to go back home. Within two weeks, her brother-in-law called and asked her to help them part time at his home and ranch store. Being the go-getter she was, she soon became the only female manager the store had ever known. She oversaw the ordering of all the western clothing for retail. "I was hot!!!" she said, blushing, "I had Rocky Mountain Jeans and western boots in every color!" In 1998, Peggy returned to Florida to live near her daughter, Debbie. She loved Florida with its warm weather and so many attractions. She loved adventure and thrill rides and even chose to go skydiving! In her later years, she returned to school and received her certificate to be a Patient Care Technician. She loved working with older people. In her words, "I have a natural affection and empathy for them…maybe it's because I now AM one! Older people are so wise, sweet and smart, but they are so often overlooked." Peggy attacked life with the attitude of "I can do anything…at least for the next five minutes". In 2009 Gammy left warm, sunny Florida and moved to Worland, Wyoming. She lived the rest of her life with her daughter Terisa and son-in-law, Jay. She was a true blessing to all who knew her. She always had a smile and hug ready to share with others. She was extremely grateful to the young men who took special care to see that she was able to partake of the Sacrament each Sunday when she was housebound. Each one of these young men grew to love her and would visit her over lunch or just to check in with her. She will be deeply missed by everyone who was touched by the hand of "Gammy". Gammy held many interesting jobs and excelled at all of them. She loved to cook and read recipe books. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved the Lord with all her heart. She studied the scriptures and read them every night to her little dog, Norman. Peggy was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Her family was the pride and joy of her life. She supported, encouraged, loved, protected, taught, adored, and bragged on her family and loved each of them fiercely. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Douglas Johnson; sister, Shirley Thompson and granddaughter, Mindy Brown. She leaves behind three daughters, Terisa (Jay) Brown of Worland, Debbie (Bill) Evans of DeLand, Florida and Tamy (Jerry) Brazell of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren: Brittany (Nick) Baker, Clayton Brown, Stephenie Brown, Spencer (Samantha) Brown, Cherity (Mickey) Garcia, Kevin (Amber) Butler, Brandi Jo (Tom) Samman, Loretta Butler, Jeffery (Elizabeth) Brown, Tara Duffey, Ada, Dina, Lisbeth Pickett, Melissa Lesage, Kathy (Benny) Eubanks, Robin (Stacey) Brown, Zachary Thompson, Dillon Thompson, Brooklyn Thompson, great-grandchildren: Taelor (Trinity) Jackson, Jaeden, Cade ,C.J., Logan, Salem, Jaxton, Maisyn, Gage, Maggie Jo, Liam, Abree, Aeson, Alaya, Aksel, Annabelle, Greyson, Emma Jo, Alexis, Destiny, Trinity, Alisa, Tristen, Kaysee, Austin, Nicole, Kala, Logan, Jordan, Heather, Collen, Chloe, Hannah, Jayden, Seth, Slayden, Sawyer, Damion, Douglas, Dakota, Ava, Johnathan, Lucas, Sammy, Hayden, Aiden, Alexis; 3 great-great-grandchildren, Katana, Nova, and Brooks; a "son of her heart," her nephew, Bob (Christie) Thompson of Norman, Oklahoma and her beloved lap-dog, Norman.
