Obituary
Raymond "Shorty" Stewart
January 2, 1954- December 3, 2025
Raymond "Shorty" Stewart, 71, passed away on December 3, 2025, at his home in Gillette, Wyoming. He was born on January 2, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Warren Leford Sr. and Marjorie Irene (Browning) Stewart.
Shorty grew up in Missouri, traveling throughout the state with his family while his dad served in the military. Following in his father's footsteps, he also joined the Army, where he proudly served for several years. After receiving an honorable discharge, Shorty found the career he truly loved—driving as an over-the-road trucker.
Shorty was blessed with three daughters: JoAnna, Sarah, and Tanya, whom he loved more than anything in the world. He was always there when his girls needed him. He was someone they could always count on. As an adult, he cherished spending time with his parents and siblings and enjoyed every moment shared with the people he loved most. For fun, Shorty liked going camping and being outdoors.
In the early 1990s, Shorty moved his family to Wyoming in search of a slower pace of life. He lived in Worland until his retirement in 2017, when he moved to Gillette to be closer to his daughters. He spent the rest of his days watching his grandchildren participate in school sports and proudly being their number-one fan.
Shorty was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, JoAnna Stewart; his sister, Eileen Stewart; and his brothers, Steve, Barry, and Kenny Stewart.
He is survived by his children, Sarah Measles (Jason) of Rozet, Wyoming, and Tanya (Matt) Miller of Moorcroft, Wyoming; brothers, Keith (Joyce) Cramer of Nevada, Missouri, Leford (Loni) Stewart Jr. of Greensburg, Kansas, and John David Stewart of Odessa, Texas; sisters, Wilma Stewart of Liberal, Kansas, and Janet Coffman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and his grandchildren: Ruby Olsen, Aaliyah (Bryton) Tubbs, Ashley Measles, Jayden Strzesak, and Ethan Olsen (Julia).
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Fred Smith officiating. A graveside service with military honors will follow. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
