Obituary
Richard Ivan Brown
June 30, 1929 – July 24, 2019
Richard Ivan Brown, 90-year-old life-long Worland resident, passed away on July 24, 2019 at the VA hospital in Sheridan, Wyoming.
Richard was born on June 30, 1029 in Worland to Arlo Clarence and Ella Mae (Grable) Brown. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in October of 1946 and served until October of 1948. Upon returning home, he joined the family business of drilling water wells. He married Louetta Joan Smith on July 24, 1950. They made their home just south of Worland. A daughter, Vicki and son, Richard made the family complete. The couple later divorced.
Richard eventually bought the business from his dad, making it a 3rd generation ownership. He ran Brown Drilling until his retirement. After "retiring" he went to work for Western Power Company for a short time before becoming a driver for the Worland Senior Center.
Richard loved to dance, drink coffee and watched T.V. Rumor has it that he never missed the evening news. Family and friends were his greatest achievements. He loved spending time with both! There was always a fishing pole with his name on it and a fish somewhere just waiting to be caught. He felt very blessed by his children and their families and enjoyed his "happy life" to the fullest.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Virginia Irene.
Survivors include his son, Richard (Pamela) Brown of Worland; daughter, Vicki (Mickey) Johnson of Corpus Christi, TX; brother, Gerald (Beulah) Brown of Craig, CO; sister, Betty Hecht of Worland; Grandchildren, Amy, Shawn, Kari, Danielle, Robyn; Great-grandchildren, Isabo, William, Shaphan, Aaron, Colton, Hayes, Alize, Jaeden, Austin and great-great-grandchildren Emerson Rose and Keenon.
A Military Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2019 at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #44. Memorial donations may be made to Sheridan VA Hospital c/o PO Box 524, Worland, WY 82401.
