Richard Wayne Buckman

Richard Wayne Buckman, 68-year-old Worland resident, passed away June 28, 2023 at the Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana.

Richard was born on August 1, 1954 in Dickinson, North Dakota, the oldest of 11 children born to Lewis and Bonnie (Gresz) Buckman.

He grew up on the family farm near Belfield, North Dakota. He graduated from Belfield High School in 1972. Upon graduation, he began working in the oilfield as a rig operator as well as helping his dad on the family farm.

Richard met the love of his life, Marcella Jane Kovash, at the wedding of his best friend. On November 3, 1978, the couple was married at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec, North Dakota. They made their home near Belfield and eventually began farming land of their own. They were blessed with five children, four boys and a girl. Shortly after the birth of their daughter, they moved to Worland, Wyoming where he accepted a position as a contract pumper. Richard continued to work in the oilfield eventually becoming a field supervisor before retiring in 2016.

In retirement, he enjoyed working in his shop, gardening, hunting, fishing, and camping. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. They brought him tremendous joy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis, sons, Daniel and Donovan, and father-in-law, Donald Kovash.

Survivors include his wife, Marcy; mother, Bonnie Buckman of Belfield; sons, Michael (Jennifer) Buckman of Worland, Wyoming and Jeffrey (Kristin) Buckman of Cheyenne, Wyoming; daughter, Kimberly (Jonathan) Beem of Casper, Wyoming; daughter-in-law, Kelly (Jesse) Davenport of Evanston, Wyoming; brothers: Edward (Karla) Buckman, John (Teresa) Buckman, Roger Buckman, Ernest (Nell) Buckman, Jerald Buckman, Ronald (Shirley) Buckman, David (Stacey) Buckman and Curtis (Cindy) Buckman; sisters: Debra Heiser and Tammy (Morry) Binstock; grandchildren: Carmyn, Theron, and Lillian Buckman and Brogan, Bennett, Brooklynn and Brewer Beem. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Rose Kovash; brother-in-law, Mark (Tina) Kovash; sisters-in-law, Mary (Dave) Kubas, Kristi (Wes) Baumstarck and Tracy (Del) Zubke, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, July 3, 2023 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 525 S. 6th St. Worland, Wyoming with The Reverend Jared Korb officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held beginning at 9:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church or to Marcy Buckman in support of Mount Hope and Trinity Lutheran Schools where their grandchildren attend.
