Obituary Richard John Linn August 12, 1938 – April 7, 2002 Richard John Linn, 81, passed away at his home on April 7, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in Lewistown, Montana on August 12, 1938 to Ruth Marie Linn and Lee Allen. His mother, with the help of her parents raised Richard in Lewistown. He attended school at St. Leo's until Jr. High, then attended the public schools. With his grandfather as the father-figure in his life, Richard helped him shear sheep and learned many other farm and ranch responsibilities. This helped him find jobs in the area during his youth. He even rode broncs for one summer. He met his future wife when they had each been set up on a blind date, but not with each other. As Claudie rid herself of the "octopus" sitting next to her, she moved closer to Richard. A grand friendship ensued. He would drive her home after she had spent hours ironing. He finally got enough courage to ask her out. Her reply was that he would have to ask her folks. That was the beginning of a beautiful courtship and marriage followed on November 3, 1961 to which two children were born, Brenda and Carl. In 1974 the couple moved to Worland where Richard went to work for Triangle Packing. In 1977 he began working for Crown, Cork and Seal. After working for 23 years, he retired in 2000. Richard was an avid fisherman, hunter (lucky shot) and all-around outdoorsman. He loved his children and grandchildren fiercely. He was very protective of his Claudie. Richard stood firm in his beliefs, some answers were yes, a few were maybe, and many were a hard NO! There was no changing his mind once it was made up. He had a strong work ethic, but if he made a mistake, he would state, simply, "Well, that didn't work!" and then continue to find what did work. He was a good friend and brother-in-law who enjoyed bantering and "one-upping" back and forth. Five years ago, Richard gave his life to Christ as he became a Christian. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Claudie; son Carl (Tina) Linn of Helena, Montana; daughter, Brenda Harrison of Grand Junction, Colorado, 4 grandchildren, Trevor, Alicia, Scotty and Brittany and 3 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Wyatt and Dodson. Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will happen this summer. Memorial donations may be made to the New Life Christian Center and sent to PO Box 524, Worland, WY 82401.
