Robert Harold Richins

Robert Harold Richins, 83 year old long time Worland resident died on October 19, 2011, following a short illness. He was born on February 21, 1928 in Gridley, California to Harold Booth and Irma (Harding) Richins. He was raised in Henefer, Utah where he graduated from high school in 1946. He then served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

Bob attended college at Brigham Young University, where he met the love of his life Betty Evert. He also attended Utah State University, receiving a degree in Aeronautical Engineering, as well as the University of Wyoming and Greeley, Colorado.

He and Betty were married on August 25, 1955 and she has been his loyal partner for 56 happy years. Bob worked as a ranger in Yellowstone National Park for nine years. He and his wife lived in a trailer at Old Faithful and at Lake District. Together they had 4 children and 12 grandchildren: His son, Robert E. Richins (companion Tina)and his children, Cory, Nicole, Brooke and Mark ; His son, Kent A. Richins (wife Rosie) their children, Micheal, Jason, and Jennifer; His daughter Julie (husband Ben) Vega and their children, Kimberly, Michelle, Marcie and Dillon; and son, Scott J. Richins and his daughter Samantha.

The family lived in Lyman, Wyoming, for a short time before moving to Worland the first time where Bob was employed as an Elementary School Principle at Eastside, Westside and Southside. They later moved to Billings, Montana, where he was a professor at Eastern Montana College and a principle at Newman Elementary School. They returned to Worland in 1973 where he, along with Betty’s father, J. Owen Evert, continued the family title insurance business, known as the Washakie Abstract Company. Together, they established, Evert-Richins Inc., which operated the Worland Auto Washette, and Cloud Peak Investments, Inc., a company involved in Real Estate transactions and Subdivisions.

Bob served on the First National Bank Board of Directors and the Canyon Creek Village Subdivision Board of Directors. He was also involved with various charitable works. He was a photographer for the BYU Annual during his college years. His interests included; Hunting, fishing and boating. He especially enjoyed being outdoors and watching wildlife in the mountains. Bob loved attending his children’s sports and school events, family trips, reading, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed driving his motor home and corvette.

He is survived by: his wife, three sons, one daughter, 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
