Obituary
Roberta (Robbi) Jane Inman
April 11, 1947- May 17, 2026
Roberta (Robbi) Jane Inman passed away on May 17, 2026 at her home in Worland, Wyoming, surrounded by her loving family.
Roberta was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 11, 1947. She was the youngest of Allen Springer and Blanche Roberta (Fellows) Gabriel's four children. Being the youngest child, she learned early how to stand her ground, and those who knew her best would smile and say that her stubborn streak stayed with her throughout her life. Along with that determination was an incredibly sharp mind, quick wit, and a spunky spirit that made her unforgettably who she was.
Roberta, being naturally intelligent, excelled in school and was especially talented in science and mathematics. She graduated as Valedictorian of her class, an achievement that shows both her self-discipline and perseverance which would go on to define her life.
Roberta met the love of her life through mutual friends while attending the University of Wyoming. They had an undeniable connection from the very beginning. They pursued a long-distance relationship when Roberta returned to Ohio. On leave from the Army, Roger traveled to Ohio to meet Roberta's family, and they loved him as much as she did. Before shipping out to Vietnam, they married on April 20, 1968, beginning a lifelong partnership of devotion and enduring love and respect for one another.
While Roger was overseas, Roberta worked at Ohio State University. After he returned from Vietnam they lived in on-base housing at Fort Knox, Kentucky. After his discharge, they settled in Rock Springs, Wyoming where they added two beloved children to their family, Lorna and Kevin. With family as her priority, Roberta devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mom until her children reached middle school. During this time, she enriched her family's life by becoming the superintendent of Sunday school at the United Methodist Church and a state referee for USS swimming program in the state of Wyoming. With her children in middle school, she began a career as a bank teller, quickly working her way up the ladder to loan officer. After leaving the bank, she served her community as a child support enforcer, in the advertisement department of the local newspaper, and ultimately as an optometrist's assistant for doctors Curtis and Treat. Although she became very accomplished in the workforce, no position ever took the place of the pure joy she derived from being a wife, homemaker, mother, and grandmother.
Outside of work, Roberta filled her life with beauty, music and nature. She loved horses and especially enjoyed hunting trips with Roger. She was an avid gardener and landscaper, proudly serving as President of the garden club. Music brought special joy and purpose. She was a founding member of the handbell choir at the United Methodist Church, an endeavor that she was so passionate about she generously donated her time and money to the choir. Roberta was an accomplished pianist and also learned how to play the organ at the Methodist Church.
Roberta could be determined and serious, but she was also spirited, loving and deeply loyal. Her strength carried her and her family through life's challenges and her love held them together.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her loving husband, Roger Inman of Worland, WY; daughter, Lorna (Reginald) Deal of Austin, TX; son, Kevin Inman of Boise, ID; brothers, Jack (Carmen) Gabriel of Columbus, OH, and James Gabriel of Mt Vernon, OH; sister Carol Frideczky of Crisfield, MD; and one granddaughter Brenna (Michael) Crandall of Frisco, TX.
