Roger Dale Johnson, Sr.

August 3, 1935 – January 4, 2023

Roger Dale Johnson, Sr., 87-year-old Greybull resident passed away at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Worland, Wyoming on January 4, 2023.

Roger was born in Lansing, Michigan on August 3, 1935, the youngest of four children born to Floyd H and Ilah L. (Downing) Johnson. He grew up in Michigan, receiving his formal education in Holt.

He married Kay Ann Wright on June 13, 1954 in Lansing, Michigan. The couple later had four children, Lenny, Roger, Jr., Gloria and Kelly.

He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad, working his way to the position of Conductor before he retired.

Roger was a very caring man. He loved his family and worked hard his whole life to provide for them, at times holding down three jobs to help them have a good life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife in 2015; sister, Dorothy Newberry; brothers, Gerald and Max; granddaughter, Liesa Marie Hill and great-granddaughter, Tairyn Elise Stearns.

Survivors include his children: Lenny (Ray) Stearns of Lander, Wyoming, Roger Johnson, Jr. of Falls City, Nebraska, Gloria (Buzz) Collingwood and Kelly (Dave) Williamson all of Greybull, Wyoming; grandchildren: Trisha Stearns of Lander, Wyoming, Jeremy Stearns of Torrington, Wyoming, Brandon (Sarah) Sanderson of North Dakota; Scott (Monica) Johnson of Phoenix, Arizona; Jennifer Collingwood of Basin, Wyoming, Roger Lancaster of Greybull, Wyoming, Amanda (Brad) Sorensen of Cody, Wyoming; Melissa (Jonathan) Baker of Phoenix, Arizona; six stepchildren; great-grandchildren: Hunter, Brookelynn, Wyatt, Cash, Cody, Sadie, Blake, Aspen, Tristin; Naya, Wayne, Elisha; Jazmyne (Colt) Flesher of Powell, Kort, Kolton, Lauzlo, Zayne, Nolan, Ryker; Avery, and Kinley; two great-great-grandchildren, John and Stetson; Thirteen step great-grandchildren; four step great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a family gathering will take place this summer to lay him to rest near his beloved Kay in the Donald J. Ruhl Cemetery in Greybull. Online condolences may be made to www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
