Obituary
Steven Allen Haynes
May 4, 1953 - October 26, 2024
Steven Allen Haynes, 71, passed away October 26, 2024 at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Steven was born on May 4, 1953 in Thermopolis, Wyoming to Samuel Merlin, Jr. and Joyce Marie (Hovey) Haynes. He was welcomed home by his sister, Shirley, who had a special relationship with him the rest of his life.
Following high school he began working in the oil industry, following in his dad's footsteps. A terrible accident ended his short career and changed his life forever. But this didn't stop his joy in living. Steve was a rule follower and strictly kept the Dr's orders, anything that might trigger a seizure was strictly avoided, including watching any television. Before entering the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Steve was blessed to move in with Shirley.
Like his father, Steve had a great love for music. After hearing his dad play fiddle for many years, Steve's love for country music just kept growing. He loved listening to Johnny Cash and was quite talented at playing the drums. He played the drums in his dad's band. His favorite places to play were at Cassie's in Cody and the Pioneer Home in Thermopolis. Steve also had a passion for cooking and made an amazing lasagna. He was an active member of the Lion's Club.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and sister. He leaves behind an aunt, Penny (Jerry) Wells of Thermopolis; niece Tina Gilpin of Cody, Wyoming; three great nieces, Jamie, Zoey Gilpin of Cody and Kendra Ogaard of Casper, Wyoming and a great many friends from Worland Healthcare, including a frequent special visitor, Samantha Strickler. Steve will be greatly missed.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, November 1, 2024 at Monument Hill Cemetery with Reverend Linda Anderson officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
