Obituary

Timothy Owen "Tim" Healy

September 20, 1944 – May 26, 2025

Timothy Owen "Tim" Healy was born September 20, 1944, to Alex and Lorraine Healy in Worland, Wyoming. He passed away unexpectedly at home in Chevy Chase, Maryland on May 26, 2025.

Tim attended elementary school in Worland before going to high school at Holy Cross Abbey in Cañon City, Colorado. He graduated in 1962, receiving a National Merit Scholarship to attend Georgetown University in Washington D.C. Tim majored in Business Administration, Economics and graduated in 1966.

It was in Washington DC that Tim met the love of his life, Susan Rose. They married in Jackson, Wyoming in 1970. After time spent in California, Canada, Massachusetts and Shell, Wyoming, Tim and Susan settled in Chevy Chase, Maryland in 1980. Together, Tim and Susan raised three beautiful children (Meagan, Brian and Ian).

A fourth-generation Wyomingite in a sheep-ranching family, Tim cherished the Bighorns, badlands and beautiful rivers of northern Wyoming. He loved music and was an accomplished classical guitarist. He graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music, with a B.Mus in Classical Guitar, in Boston, MA.

Once in the DC area, Tim founded the International Conservatory of Music in 1980, where students could receive instruction in classical guitar, flute, piano and violin, as well as the erh hu, kora, koto, and other instruments. In 1993, he created the John E. Marlow Guitar Series featuring popular performances by guitarists from around the world. Recently, he matched guitar teachers with military veterans suffering from PTSD and BI.

Tim was a very successful Realtor for more than 35 years with the Long & Foster Real Estate agency in DC and Maryland, retiring from this work in 2020. He was also involved in numerous local community service activities, such as volunteering with the Board of the local Fire Department.

Tim is survived by his loving wife Susan, his children Meagan, Ian, (Shanie), Brian (Angela), and grandson Owen; cousins Cathy Healy, Mike Healy, Debbie Healy Hammons and Stuart Healy II; nephews and nieces George Horvath, Alexander Horvath, Tim Horvath, Patricia Healy Horvath, Credence (Hermione) Healy Sanchez, Mairrey Healy Patterson Sheldon, Alexandra Healy, Josh Healy, Costa Healy and Madeleine Healy Fieldmouse Alexander; and many other family and friends who will miss him very dearly.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Alex Healy Jr. (1990) and Lorraine Cooney Healy (1981), as well as his sister Melinda Healy (1948), sister Diana Healy Horvath (1982) and brother Alexander (Alec) Healy III (1990).

Tim tirelessly sought to see the good in people, and to help them find solutions, whether their problems were large or small. He was incredibly generous in every way you can think of, he was never too busy or self-absorbed to stop what he was doing for others, and it may truly be said that his two mottos in life were "Just be kind" and "Don't worry, be happy." Tim was always ready with a joke or a funny story and expressed himself beautifully in poems. It was always a joy to be with him. Can one say that at age 80, Tim left this world "too soon"? It sure feels that way, but God knows best. We were abundantly blessed to love this man all the years that we knew him, and to know his love.
