Verda Rasmussen

Verda Mae Collingsworth Rasmussen, 87, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, in Nome, Texas, where she had made her home in recent years with her granddaughter. Surrounded by the love of family, she spent her final years creating cherished memories and enjoying life’s simple pleasures.

Verda was born on September 12, 1938, in Montrose, Colorado. She spent much of her youth in Colorado and, while spending summers on a ranch near Newcastle, Wyoming, met the love of her life, David Rasmussen. They were united in marriage on March 2, 1957, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they built a life centered around faith, hard work, and family and were blessed with three sons: David Lee Jr., Dean Keith, and Darrel James.

The early years of their marriage were spent in California before they returned to Wyoming and lived on several ranches in eastern Wyoming. In 1965, they settled permanently in Worland, Wyoming. Verda devoted herself to raising her boys and later enjoyed a 33-year career with Pepsi.

Verda had a lifelong love of country and western music and amassed a collection of more than 2,000 albums. She also took great pride in her home and especially enjoyed caring for her beautiful yard and flower beds, which brought her much happiness through the years.

Family was always the center of Verda’s life. During her 57 years of marriage before David’s passing, she and David found great joy in attending ballgames, swim meets, and countless activities involving their grandchildren.

Verda was preceded in death by her husband, David Rasmussen, one son Dean, three sisters and one brother.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by her sons, David Lee Jr. and Darrel James(Carol), five granddaughters, Brenna, Amanda (Andy), Jennifer, Nicole (Elton), and Danielle (Brandon); three grandsons, Nathan, Carter (Tearza), and Brady; four great-grandchildren, Angelica (Miguel), Emma, Everett, and Memphis; one great-great-grandson, Aryaan; two bonus grandsons, Wyatt and Carson; and one sister, Betty Woods of Alabama.
