Viola Fernandez Ramos

Viola Fernandez Ramos, 93 year old, Worland resident, died at her home on February 21, 2002.

Viola was born on May 1, 1908 in Ocate, New Mexico daughter of Geronimo and Mary (Gabrell) Ortez. She grew up in Ocate and received her education there. She was married to Richard Fernandez in August of 1928. They had 12 children. They resided in New Mexico, Colorado then moved to Lovell, Wyoming. In 1937 they came to Worland, Wyoming. They later divorced. She was married to Nick Ramos Sr. in December 1954.

Viola was a homemaker for several years then went to work as a housekeeper for George & Anna Coutis for 25 years she also worked for Scotties café. She then went to work at Rams Horn and was there for 10 years until she retired. Throughout her life she enjoyed her home, having family and grandchildren close to her. Her hobbies included embroidering gardening, playing dice and loved to go fishing.

Her parents, her husband, 2 sons, 3 grandsons, 1 great grandson, 4 brothers and 1 sister precede her in death.

She is survived by four sons; Rudy Fernandez, Bob Fernandez, Gil (Jan) Fernandez all of Worland, Ed Fernandez of Billings, MT. 6 daughters; Jo (Dick) Gonzales of Billings, MT. Alice Ferguson, Isabell Price, Helen Smotherman all of Worland, Norma Vigil of Woodland, CA, Gloria (Louis) Uelman of Thermopolis, WY. 33 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren 9 great great grandchildren, 3 step children Nick Jr., Bob Ramos of Spokane, WA, Mary Ramos of San Diego, 2 brothers, Frank (Marta) Gabrell of Drakes Branch, VA, Tom Ortez of Cheyenne, WY., 2 sisters, Cecialia Baty of Portland, OR., Berta (Clifford) Ferguson of Philadelphia, PA and several nieces & nephews.
