Obituary

Wayne Earl Burrows

March 14, 1946 – November 11, 2025

Wayne Earl Burrows passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Worland, Wyoming.

He was born on March 14, 1946, in La Junta, Colorado, to Floyd "Fat" and Juanita (Wheeler) Burrows. Wayne was the eldest of three children, followed by his brother Curtis and sister Debbie. The family later moved to Sheridan, Wyoming, where his father was employed at the Veterans Hospital. Wayne developed a lifelong interest in mechanics and pursued an education in aviation mechanics. He began his career with Boeing in Seattle, Washington, and in 1967 attended Aircraft Mechanic School in Colorado. He later worked for Hawkins and Powers Aviation in Greybull, as well as Stockwells Manufacturing and the Town of Greybull, where he retired in 1983 due to health reasons. Wayne married Delores Long in September 1967. Together they had three sons: Darren, Derrick, and Cody. A lover of music, Wayne enjoyed all genres but especially appreciated listening to his son Cody's music and to Wyoming musician Jalan Crossland. He also had a passion for bicycles, which he shared with his boys, collecting and enjoying many bicycles and trikes over the years. Beginning in 1984, Wayne spent winters in Deming, New Mexico, where he built lasting friendships and enjoyed frequent trips to Mexico. In 2015, he returned to Wyoming, settling in Thermopolis to be closer to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Juanita Burrows, and his brother Curtis.

He is survived by his sons, Darren of Thermopolis, Derrick (JaNeen) of Worland, and Cody of Longmont, Colorado; sister, Debbie (Marc) Montana; sister-in-law, Cho Burrows of Sheridan; grandchildren, Jonathon (Tasha), Cameron (Cyndal), and Josh, all of Thermopolis, Katie of Casper, and Becky of Gillette; as well as seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
