William "Bill" Steele Bain
December 28, 1942- May 18, 2025
William "Bill" Steele Bain, 82, passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 18, 2025.
He was born on December 28, 1942 in Worland, Wyoming to Woodrow Wilson and Mary Helen (Steele) Bain. He was one of five children.
Bill grew up in Worland, Wyoming on Gooseberry creek with his four brothers. He attended grade school at the Bain school on Gooseberry and later attended school in Worland graduating in 1961. Bill joined the United States Army in 1968 where he proudly served as an aircraft mechanic for 3 years. During his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Service Metal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with "60" Device and the Army Commendation Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster. Bill was proud to be an American and fought for what he believed in.
In 1963, he began his truck driving career. He worked for Geis trucking until 1997. In 1997 he started BRAT trucking with Angus Powell. Bill said Brat stood for broke, rundown and terrified or Bright, Religious and Thoughtful depending on the day. After 50 years of driving truck he retired to enjoy the rest of his days with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Mary and brother, Andrew (Beverly) Bain.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; brothers, Woodrow Jr, David and Joseph; daughters, Nicole (Cody) Blanchard, Randi (Audie) Rose and Shirley (Mark) Janicek; grandchildren: Mackenzie, Tyler, Zoe, Emma, Madison, Jaxon, Kelly, Karen and Katie, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday May 22, 2025 at St. Lukes Lutheran Church with Pastor Korb officiating. Memorial donations may be made to U.S.O or St. Lukes. Please send checks to PO Box 524 Worland, Wyoming 82401. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
