William "Bill" Joseph Shepperson

William Joseph Shepperson, 78, passed away at his home near Worland on January 23, 2023.

William was born in McCook, Nebraska, Red Willow County on October 6, 1944. He was the oldest of two sons born to James William, Jr. and Virginia Jane (Christy) Shepperson. He received his education in Casper, graduating from Natrona County High School in 1963. He attended Casper College before enlisting in the US Navy as a Petty Officer Engineman 3rd Class on the LST Whitfield County.

Upon his discharge, Bill bought a farm outside of Casper, Wyoming. He married Bertha Connie Parker on December 23, 1969 in Casper. Three daughters were born, making the family complete, Billie Jo, Jamie and Roberta. Following Billie Jo's birth, the family moved to the Gooseberry in 1974, where Bill raised cattle until the market fell. They then moved to their forever home north of Worland. He worked for many companies, including the Natrona County Fair Board, and Natrona Irrigation District and FedEx. While in Worland, he worked for Halliburton, Crown Cork & Seal, Hawkins & Powers and Dale Weaver Construction. One of his favorite jobs was managing Bertie's accounts when she was a traveling nurse. It was also during this time the couple traveled up and down the west coast and even as far as New Mexico, Hawaii and Alaska. He was a member of the American Legion Post #44 and a charter member of the Molokai Veterans.

Bill was a storyteller who loved children and animals, traveling with his wife and was quite the craftsman. It wasn't uncommon for him to ask a small child how old they were upon meeting them. He would then reach into his wallet, pull out the same number of dollar bills and give them to the child. Then with a smile and a stern voice, inform them that those were their dollars to spend on candy or toys, not to give to Mom or Dad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Alan and nephew, Kevin Shepperson.

William is survived by his wife, Bertie; daughters, Billie Jo Shepperson, Jamie (Ronald) Shepperson Wilson all of Worland, Roberta (Wade) Shepperson Daly of Casper, Wyoming and his grandchildren Carolyn J., Luca, Willow and Dax.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, January 26, 2023 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church with Pastor Jared Korb officiating. Viewing and visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church and sent to PO Box 524, Worland, WY 82401.
