Obituary
William Dan Harley
March 5, 1986 - April 17,2023
William Dan Harley, 37, was born in Worland, Wyoming to William David Harley and Tina Robinson on March 5, 1986. He grew up in Casper, WY for most of his life, and when he was seven welcomed his little brother, whom he named after hurricane Andrew.
Dan was a bright and curious child, always learning new and exciting ways to keep people on their toes. He was a prankster, a bookworm, and an avid lover of the outdoors, racing, music, smoked meats, and spending time with friends and family. A soul bright with kindness and compassion, he made friends wherever he went throughout his life.
With aspirations of military service from a young age, Dan enlisted in the US Army as soon as he could, spending 8 and a half years in artillery (2003-2011). He also spent 27 months between two tours in Iraq for Operation Freedom between 2004 and 2008 before spending time in Germany until 2009. It was during his second Iraqi tour, in December of 2007, that he met the love of his life, Keri Lorenz. The two remained in constant contact until they were united, and after meeting each other's families, the two married in August 2009. They welcomed their son, Daamon, in 2011, and their daughter, Lia, in 2016. Determined to be the best father and husband he could be, Dan wore many hats after leaving the army, eventually settling his family in Des Moines and finding his stride as a long-haul truck driver, highlighting his adventurous nature and providing a comfortable living for the family he loved. January 2023, he started his final battle. After three and a half months bravely fought, several rounds of chemotherapy, and two hospitals later, William Dan Harley succumbed to Acute Myeloid Leukemia on April 17, 2023 with his hand enclosed in Keri's. She never left his side.
Dan was preceded in death by grandparents Bill Harley, John Robinson, Sue (Presley) Thaxton, and Aunt Debra (Robinson) Skeen.
He is survived by his wife, Keri; children: Daamon and Lia; grandmother Retta Harley; parents Tina Whitlock (Will) and David Harley (Ja). Dan is also survived by his siblings Andrew, Sheila, Kera, Sam, Fletcher, and Harlan; his wife's parents, Lori and Howard, large extended family, and many, many friends. He will be dearly missed.
There will be a celebration of life on June 17th at Tough Creek Campground at Boyson Reservoir at 12:15 pm. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
